Sun Lin's (aka Jie Mu) Vision is Deteriorating Precipitously and His Father is Critically Ill and Hopes His Son Can Return Home

The deteriorating health of Boxun reporter Sun Lin (aka Jie Mu) is causing alarm for those concerned. Because he protested his illegal detention, his head was injured in a beating and he sustained serious injury. His head continues to be in pain. And now his vision has suffered serious deterioration, and according to his family members his sight is very hazy, and this is not the kind of presbyopia that is the result of aging. He has requested medical attention, but it is not clear if the detention center will grant the request.

In addition, Sun Lin's father, who is nearing 100 years of age, has been admitted to hospital. The hospital has informed the family that he is critically ill. Sun Lin's father is a Red Army veteran, and every year at major holidays city officials in Nanjing pay their respects in visits to him and these are publicized in the media. Sun Lin is his favorite son. While in the hospital, he has had a premonition of his son's deteriorating condition and continues to chatter incessantly wondering when his son will come home. Boxun calls on concerned Nanjing officials to permit Sun Lin to visit his ailing father. Because Sun Lin is a conscientious man who dares to speak out, and cares about the real strength of China, he has been illegally arrested and sentenced. If China is a society ruled by law, Sun Lin would not have been arrested, never mind sentenced. How can one accept this illegal obstacle separating a loving child and his father? Nanjing officials visit his father every year on holidays. It would show more love and concern if this time they honor the old man's biggest wish and let him see his child.
